Pro Athletes Prize money

CHALLENGEFAMILY has introduced a pro athlete bonus scheme to its European races. The initiative provides professional athletes with the opportunity to race for a share of a €140,000 endof- season bonus as well as a prize purse of €38,000 per each qualifying long distance race and €19,000 per each qualifying half distance race. Full distance races will pay eight deep, half distance races will pay six deep.

The €140k bonus will pay five deep across both men and women with the top ranked pro taking home €25k, second will earn €17k and third will win €13k, fourth €10k and fifth €5k. Ranking will be decided through a points system based on placings earned.

European Full distance prize money and points breakdown

• All European Full distance races (Venice, Roth, Regensburg, Almere-Amsterdam, Madrid) will pay 8th deep, except CHALLENGE ROTH and CHALLENGE ALMERE-AMSTERDAM (as the European Championship 2017) which will pay 10 deep.

• All European Full distance races will award points 10 deep.

In the advent of a tie the prize money will be averaged between the two athletes and corresponding places.

Athletes are only able to count five races during the season, of which no more than two can be full distance races.
